Benedict scores decision, pin

Tanner Benedict scored Whitefish's only points Jan. 19 and Jan. 22 at Northwestern A wrestling duals against top-ranked Polson, here and away. The Pirates rolled to 78-3 and 75-6 wins respectively.

Senior Bulldog wrestler Benedict, 160 pounds, took Ty Fouty for three rounds Jan. 19 before finishing with a 9-4 decision. Benedict scored a take down and a near fall in the first round, and a reversal and near fall in the second. On Jan. 22 at Polson, Benedict pinned Fouty in 3:16.

Fouty was recently ranked No. 4 among 152-pounders in a Class A coaches poll.

Bulldog 145-pounder Nick O'Dell, who is ranked No. 6 in his weight class, took Brock Bleazard for three rounds Jan. 19 before being pinned at the 5:46 mark. O'Dell scored a reversal and near fall in the second dual, which nearly led to a pin.

Bleazard was able to hold off O'Dell as time expired in the round before he pinning him in the third. On Jan. 22, O'Dell went the distance with Bleazard before losing an 8-2 decision.
