13U All Stars fifth at state

The 13U Babe Ruth All Star baseball team took fifth place in the state tournament last week in Havre, going 2-2 overall. The tourney featured 11 teams from across Montana.

In the first game of pool play, the Hi-Line team from Glasgow topped Glacier 14-2. The All Stars rebounded against Bozeman with a 5-2 win behind the arm of Jayce Fagerland, of Columbia Falls.

In the final round-robin game, Glacier edged Northern from Shelby 10-7. Austin Robins, of Whitefish, scored the win on the mound to help the All Stars reach the single elimination bracket.

Glacier faced Helena in the first round and found themselves down 11-3 early. The All Stars rallied, though, to pull ahead 12-11 in the top of the seventh inning.

Helena made a comeback in the bottom half of the inning and scored two runs for the 13-12 win.
