The Boys and Girls Club holds a Youth Night on Thursdays at Glacier Discovery Square. It’s a safe and fun place for youth to hang out. Middle school kids are welcome from 5 to 7 p.m. and high school age from 7 to 9 p.m. There is no cost.

The Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce After Hours for May is at the Montana House in Apgar Village from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 13. The Montana House is celebrating its 50th year. Glacier Park curator Dierdre Shaw will give a short talk on early history of the West Glacier area at 5:45 p.m. and Nuevo Columbia will provide music.

The Columbia Falls Library presents singer and musician Bill Rossiter’s Home, Home on the Ranch: Farm and Ranch Life in Story and Song is Thursday, May 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Glacier Discovery Square. The Humanities Montana and the Cultural Trust sponsor the program, which features songs accompanied by guitar, banjo, autoharp and harmonica. Audience members are encouraged to share stories.

Friday

The Columbia Falls High School jazz bands will perform a Jazz Cafe Friday, May 14 at 7 p.m. in the gym foyer. There will be music, food and room for dancing. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students.

Saturday

A walking group meets Saturdays at 9 a.m. at Imagine Health. Walk for one hour, rain or shine. Route varies weekly and folks set their own pace. For more information, call 892-4406.

The Flathead chapter of the Montana Native Plant Society will hold a work-day at Glacier Discovery Square Tuesday, May 18 at 5:30 p.m. Activities will include prepping beds, planting native plants, and general garden clean-up. For more information, call Terry at 387-5527.

Twenty-five Columbia Falls High drummers who received superior ratings at the state music festival will perform a concert including drumline features and a few surprises Tuesday, May 18 at the Little Theater at 7 p.m.

Wednesday

Learn about plant succession after fire while exploring forests along the North Fork Road with easy hikes into different post-fire forest communities with Steve Wirt, fire ecologist, photographer and botanist.
