A travesty
What a travesty the skybridge at The Lodge at Whitefish Lake is. The Whitefish Pilot should add a new category to their "best of list" called "Best Eyesore." This skybridge should win hands-down.
In a recent article, the Pilot called the bridge a tourist attraction. Really? I can just see it now, the tourists flocking to see this skybound trailer.
I also read Sean Averill's declaration that "the skybridge will help mitigate safety concerns about pedestrians crossing Wisconsin Avenue in the summer months." Really? Are you kidding me? Is the lodge going to redirect all the people who now cross the street up into the new hotel and make them climb the stairs and cross the street (at an angle)?
During the busy summer months, Mr. Averill, hundreds of people cross the street everyday while vehicles are traveling 45 mph. Are you suggesting that your new skybridge was built to alieviate that problem. Really?
Perhaps a way to help dress up the new bridge would be to hang a big banner on it saying "RV park next right."
I watched the recent Whitefsh City Council meeting on the local access channel and was amazed that the council discussed the skybridge but came to the conclussion that they couldn't do anything about it. How about asking them to tear the thing down and put a tunnel under Wisconsin Avenue? Then all the foot travelers can pass safely, and this ungly thing will be but a bad memory.
Come on council, if you can champion the Mrs. Spoonovers mural, how about taking on this monstrosity?
