After hearing the House District 4 candidates take questions from the people in the audience, at a recent debate in Whitefish, a very different core philosophy began to emerge.

Democrat Will Hammerquist felt that more government is needed to provide for the people. Republican Derek Skees thinks that less government regulation would stimulate business and provide more opportunity for Montana. Hammerquist puts his faith in government, and Skees believes that the private sector and market solutions are more efficient.

It is no surprise that most of the local business community supports Derek Skees, as evidenced by the large turnout to support him at the debate. Derek Skees thinks that the proper role of government is to protect the rights of the people so they can provide for themselves, not to provide for the people by taking away their rights.

Ask yourself — do you want a local businessman like Skees to represent you or a career politician like Hammerquist?
