Junior varsity football team ends season with loss to Troy
With short week for the varsity, the Vikings sent a very limited number of players to Troy, which meant they had a froshmore team facing Troy's junior varsity.
That, according to Bigfork JV coach Ken Sharr, was a big contributor in the Vikes' 26-8 loss to the Trojans.
"We had the same guys playing the offensive and defensive line so I give a lot of credit to them for playing hard the whole game," Sharr said. "They had no one to sub for them. All we had was five linemen."
Bigfork's only score came in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.
"We sustained a drive which was all on the ground," Sharr said. "The drive was taken by our three backs, Colton Oster, Kyle Campbell and Boyd Rieke."
The touchdown was ultimately scored by Stephen Jochen and was followed by a two-point conversion by Oster.
"Throughout the game the boys were able to sustain numerous drives that were stalled by penalties and errors in execution," Sharr said.
Although Bigfork allowed the Trojans to rack up 20 first-half points, the Vikes held them to just six in the second half.
Both Sharr and assistant coach Boyd Rieke said they were "very proud of the boys for coming out and winning the second half."
Sharr said the biggest difference he saw in his boys' play from the first half to the second half was their ability to "conduct themselves as a more cohesive unit."
The game was the final one on Bigfork's JV football team's schedule for the season.
