In all of seven minutes, the Columbia Falls girls soccer season ended. The Hamilton Lady Broncs scored three unanswered goals at the 15, 20 and 22 minute marks to go up 3-0 and the Columbia Falls girls simply couldn’t recover.

Coach Greg Trenerry said they just made some defensive mistakes and “then they got a little panicky.”

The Kats would settle down and play a better second half. McKenzie Kiser knocked in a goal to cut the margin to 3-1 16 minutes into the half on an assist from Julia Burgi, but it wasn’t enough.

“Other than those six or seven minutes, it was pretty equal,” Trenerry said. “Hamilton is a good, fast team and they capitalized on their opportunities.”

The Kats end their season at 7-1 in conference play and 10-3 overall.

The squad won’t change much next season. Just two players, keeper Niesha Thompson and midfielder Elena Potter will graduate.

“We’ll have a strong team next year,” Trenerry said.
