Kats top Anaconda at rocky CFHS Tip Off Tourney
Hungry Horse News
The Wildkats experienced a rough weekend as they hosted the Tip Off Tourney at Columbia Falls High School.
The Polson team, the No. 1 seeded team from the north, won the tournament Saturday, sealing their victory 25-24 and 25-22 over Dillon, the top team from the south.
Columbia Falls downed Anaconda 19-25, 25-17, 15-12, securing 11th place.
"We are definitely making progress," said Kats coach Addy Connelly. "Friday was a little rough, but Saturday was much better."
Connelly said that other coaches told her that the Kats are making strides. The biggest thing the team has to work on is communication — learning to tell hitters where to hit, yelling out serving positions, calling the ball.
"We're still young, playing a faster-paced game, getting used to varsity," Connelly said.
"The seniors are really doing a great job keeping progress in the right direction," she said. "They're keeping positive. I commend them for working hard and never letting the team down."
The team travels to Bonner's Ferry for a tournament this weekend. Varsity will meet the Whitefish Bulldogs at home Thursday, Sept. 23.
