A 30-foot trailer packed with straw caught fire while being hauled down Montana Highway 35 north of Bigfork on Friday morning.
Firefighters from both Creston and Bigfork were working on the scene near McCaffery Road. The driver of the truck pulling the trailer was able to get it unhitched before emergency workers arrived. The incident was reported just before 11 a.m.
Crews were working to move the burning straw from the west edge of the highway directly across to the Fox pit to put it out.
Traffic in both directions was still being blocked as of 12:45 p.m. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
