Bulldogs tough at Libby track meet
Whitefish’s girls track team earned a
big win last week at the Libby meet by earning 178 points. The next
closest team, Columbia Falls, had 119 points.
Marlow Schulz won the 100 impressively
with a 13.30, edging out team mate Amanda Foley who finished in
second with a 13.38. Foley easily won the 200 with a 27.45, while
Schulz wrapped up the 400 with a 1:01.38.
The distance crew was strong as usual,
with Jessica Sagen, Carly Schwickert and Bailey Eaton taking first
through third respectively in the 1,600. Sagen and Eaton were first
and second in the 3,200, while Schwickert was second in the
800.
Whitefish’s relay teams, which are
always good measuring sticks for the team, won both the 400 and
1,600. Carly Schwickert, Jessica Sagen, Amanda Foley and Marlow
Schulz teamed up in the 1,600 effort.
In the field, Shelby Backer was second
in javelin with an 88-8, and Abby Stellnauer was third with a 88-1.
Strellnauer won the discus with a 96-1.
Brooke Silliker cleared 7 feet in the
pole vault for second place.
The boys team finished third at the
Libby meet with 92 total points, behind Columbia Falls and
Libby.
Iaian Cameron was second in both the
100 and 200, while Logan Harwood was second in the 400.
Gage Vasquez continued his dominance in
the 800, this time posting a 2:08.56.
Fischer Gangemi tried to keep pace with
Columbia Falls stand out Derrick Williams in the 3,200. Gangemi
ended up in second place with an 11:00.50.
Whitefish was second in both the 400
and 1,600 relays.
Madison Apple, Bryce Wehrli, Jimmy
Boles all cleared 10 feet in the pole vault.
