Ryders post top times at state
With only 15 athletes on the roster,
the Wave Ryders swim club managed to snag sixth place overall at
the Long Course State Swim Meet in Missoula last weekend. Four team
members punched their tickets to the Western Zones.
The team earned 22 gold medals out of
75 events, led by seven golds each from Bubba Loyda and Jordan
Loyda, four golds from Jake Cirincione and three from Jamie
Bouda.
Bubba Loyda, Jordan Loyda, Cirincione
and Emily Sullivan earned a spot at the Western Zones championships
in Clovis, Calif.
Jordan Loyda had three personal-best
times among his seven gold medals.
Sullivan scored 46 points while earning
six silver medals in Missoula.
Cirincione won the 50-meter and
100-meter freestyle, and the 50-meter and 100-meter butterfly. He
scored 53 points for the team.
Bubba Loyda scored the most points for
the team (71) to earn Most Valuable Swimmer of the meet. He tallied
12 personal-best times.
Bouda tallied 53 points, posted 10
personal-bests and added three silvers to go along with his
golds.
Matthew Perez earned 14 personal-best
times, accounting for 100 percent of his events. He dropped 187
seconds off his total time.
Hannah Lally had a strong showing in
her first state meet. She tallied three third-place finishes.
Jessica Stenberg scored 35 points and
placed third in the 400 freestyle.
Jessica Loyda tallied a silver in the
200 freestyle and score 24 points. Joshua Loyda grabbed 23 points
and posted nine personal-best times.
Alexa Horvath scored four points,
Caroline Dye scored 12 and Lauren York had 6.5.
Hunter Stephens-Parks and Dalton Weaver
each had eight points after swimming for the boys 10-and-under
200-meter freestyle relay team in a come-from-behind gold medal
finish.
