Lady Dogs go blue collar

The Lady Bulldogs soccer club will pull

from their blue collar work ethic as they look to make another run

at a state championship.

The team is loaded with seven seniors

on the 16-woman roster. There is no JV squad this season.

“We’re looking real good,” said coach

Wendy Farrens. “Everyone is working hard and our fitness level is

good.”

Farrens says the team’s strength will

be their versatility.

“A lot of the girls can play multiple

positions,” she said. “They are eager to learn more and are very

coachable. We’re a solid team and have great chemistry.”

Sophomore Piper Greenwood will be in

the goal as keeper.

“She’s strong, tough and fearless back

there,” Farrens said.

Team captains are seniors Natalie

Gayner and Sam Dittman, who will be looked to for offensive

production. Both earned All-State honors last season.

Whitefish opens the season Friday

against Stevensville before clashing with defending state champion

Billings Central on Sept. 3. The ‘Dogs lost 4-1 to Billings in the

Class A finals last year.

“That will be a great test,” Farrens

said, “but it’s still really early in the season and right now our

focus is on Friday’s game.”
