Williams runs in California regional meet

Wildcat runner Derrick Williams did well recently at the Foot Locker West Regional cross-country meet, competing with some of the best high school runners in the West.

Williams rook 54th with a time of 16:44 on the 5-kilometer course in Walnut, Calif. Williams made the trip with cross-country coach Richard Menicke.

Also traveling with them was Troy Fraley, of Glacier High School, and Zach Perrin, of Flathead High School. Fraley took 29th with a time of 16:24, and Perrin took 47th with a time of 16:35. More than 200 runners competed in the Dec. 3 race.

The top-10 runners qualified for the Footlocker nationals in San Diego, Calif., this weekend. Makena Morley, of Bigfork, took third in the girls group, qualifying her for the race.
