Turnovers plague Lady Bulldogs
A talented Glacier team gave the Lady
Bulldogs all they could handle Friday night in Whitefish. The Class
AA Wolfpack held Whitefish to two points in the first half as they
sprinted to a lopsided 47-8 victory.
Nine different players scored for
Glacier, led by Cassidy Hashley’s 13 points.
Ashlee Brewer put in a good effort for
Whitefish and finished with four points, all earned from the foul
line. Taylor Havens and Shannon Craft each made a two-point field
goal.
Glacier’s smothering defense forced 34
Whitefish turnovers, which led to easy points. Whitefish coach Sean
Duff said it was the rebounding that killed their chances.
Whitefish allowed 25 offensive rebounds, an area where they
typically excel.
“We are so much better than the last
two games showed,” Duff said. “It’s just the basic things. They
panicked and there was a little intimidation against Glacier. They
took it to us.
“It’s good to play these games and see
what we have to improve on.”
Whitefish needs to improve on defense
to have a chance against sharpshooting teams.
“We have to play amazing defense and
keep opponents under 40,” Duff said. “Everything has to go right
for us to put 50-60 points on the board.”
The coach commended the play of
Brewer.
“She’s been doing a good job for us,”
he said.
The Lady Bulldogs (0-3, 0-0) hosted
Class AA Flathead Tuesday night. They host Bigfork Dec. 22 at 6
p.m. Duff looks for it to be a competitive game.
“It could be a great game for us,” he
said. “We need to get a win going into Christmas break.”
