Travis Herring

Travis J. Herring, 21, of Milwaukie, Ore., passed away Jan. 20, 2011.

He was born June 17, 1989, In Fort Knox, Ky., at the Ireland Army Hospital, the only child of Holly Presnell and James E. Herring Jr.

As a child he lived in Texas, Montana and Oregon. However, most of his formative years were spent in Eureka and Kalispell.

Travis enjoyed hunting and being in the out-of-doors. He especially loved working with small animals and would become immediate friends with them.

Prior to his death, he was enrolled in Sumner College in the Portland area with plans of becoming a correctional officer.

Travis was preceded in death by an aunt Jackie Gage, his grandmother Ruby Presnell and “adopted” grandmother Esther Kauffman.

He is survived by his mother Holly Presnell, of Milwaukie; and his father James Herring Jr., and his wife Stephanie Holman Herring, and their children, Indie and Kowen, of Canyon Lake, Texas.

He leaves his paternal grandparents James and Betty Herring, his uncle Tim and Holly Herring, aunt Sharon and Jerry Aiken, all of Jacksonville, Texas, and aunt Debbie and Phil McClain, of Henderson, Texas; as well as cousins Trenton Herring, Mary McClain, Brandy McClain Taylor, Miranda and Heather Aiken.

He leaves his maternal grandparents, Sharon and Ron Albiston, of Kalispell, and Roger and Arletta Presnell, of Eureka; and his great grandparents, Mona and Harvey Hanson, of Whitefish, and Opal Connelly of Kalispell. He leaves his aunts, Ginger and Steve Kauffman, of Kalispell, Shawnee and David Adams, of St. Paul, Ore., and Penny Benetti, of Milwaukie; as well as cousins Amber Schneider, Lacey McLaren and Zachary Adams.

Also surviving is the Kauffman family of Kalispell, who loved him and treated him as one of their own. He had many close friends as well, who shared his belief in our Savior Jesus Christ and encouraged him in his walk in the faith.

Cremation was followed by a prayer circle for Travis in Oregon. His ashes will be interred in the family cemetery on the Herring's home place near Jacksonville, Texas.
