Louise Barbara Craft Gaffney

Louise Barbara Craft Gaffney, 88, passed away peacefully at the Brendan House on Jan. 17, 2011.

Louise was born to Ulysses and Theresa Craft in Box Elder on Aug. 25, 1922. She had 10 “Crafty” brothers and sisters. The Craft family moved to Columbia Falls where they bought land, which became known as “Craft’s Corner.”

Louise was a well-known cook and worked in several cafes in Kalispell and Washington.

She married John Schutt and had a son, John Schutt, and a daughter, Barbara Schutt Stevenson (Benzien), then divorced. Later, she married Johan Berg and gave birth to son, Ricky D. Berg, and divorced.

Louise later moved to Washington, where she met and married Robert Gaffney of Sprague, Wash. They were happily married until Robert passed away.

Louise is survived by her three children; brother, Lawrence Craft; and sister, Dorothy Nelson. She has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; also many nieces and nephews.

Louise was a very hard-working woman and wonderful mother. She is very much loved and will be missed.

There will be no interment. A family lunch will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 29 at the home of Connie Kenfield, in remembrance of Louise.
