Root pruning, re-paving on Apgar trail
Construction work on the Apgar Bike Path in Glacier National Park is aimed at pruning roots and re-paving the path.
The popular paved hiking and biking trail connects Apgar Village with West Glacier. Roots growing beneath the trail have caused the pavement to buckle and break open.
Initial pruning and removal of pavement has been completed between the Park Headquarters area and the Going-to-the-Sun Road. Work continues between the Glacier Institute Field Camp and Apgar Village and is expected to be completed by early August.
Trail users are encouraged to use caution as they will encounter some off-trail detours, temporary closures and equipment along the trail. Bikers can check trail conditions by contacting a visitor center, ranger station or calling 888-7800.
