Twins sink Lakers with homer by Elek
The Glacier Twins beat their cross-valley rival, Kalispell Lakers, 9-6 on Sunday. The Twins were boosted by a 3-run homer by Cody Elek in the top of the ninth to get the win.
The Twins took an early 4-2 lead in the first inning, but the Lakers chipped away at the lead, and it was tied up at 6 apiece after five innings in Kalispell.
Elek went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, and Geoff Streeter was 2-for-5 with a double. The Lakers committed six errors in the loss. Twins pitcher Zach Maassen pitched four no-hit innings in middle relief. Jimmy Jumper got the save.
In Twins A action, the Libby Loggers won 12-5 and 2-0 in a doubleheader at Memorial Field in Whitefish on Sunday.
Brendan Windauer was 2-for-2 with a double in the first game. Libby had eight hits in the first game and scored a run in every inning.
The second game was tied at zeros until Libby put two runs aboard in the top of the seventh to get the win.
