Voters approve school levies

Whitefish voters overwhelmingly approved two school levies totaling $271,600 during Tuesday’s school elections. About 60 percent of voters cast ballots in favor of the levies.

With 26.35 percent of the votes, incumbent David Fern was elected to the School Board of Trustees for his seventh three-year term. Heather Vrentas garnered 26.87 percent of the votes while Shawn Watts earned 24.87 percent of the votes. Vrentas and Watts will fill seats on the board left by outgoing board members Eric Hosek and Brian McDowell.

Voter turnout was about average at nearly 20 percent. Of 9,759 registered voters in Whitefish, 1,925 filled out a ballot.
