Lady netters look for upsets at divisional
Whitefish’s girls tennis team heads to
the Northwest A divisional tourney in Libby on a high note after
knocking off the Lady Loggers 5-2 last week.
The highlight of the dual came in the
No. 1 doubles match when Ryan Chauner and Haley Craven took down a
team that beat them easily earlier in the year. The duo revenged
the loss with a 6-1, 6-3 victory.
“They are going into divisional on an
up note,” Whitefish coach Patrick Dryden said.
None of the girls on Whitefish’s roster
will play in the tourney as a ranked player, but Dryden says that’s
to be expected for a team in rebuilding mode. Of the four singles
players making the trip to Libby, three are freshman. On the
doubles side, four are sophomores and two are juniors.
“We’ll plug away and see how far we can
go in the bracket,” Dryden said. “The whole point is to look to the
future.”
