Donald Doerschlag

Donald James Doerschlag, 89, of Kalispell, died Oct. 18, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Home, in Kalispell.

He was born Feb. 20, 1922, in Sprague, Wash., to Ernest William and Grace Emily (Potts) Doerschlag.

He served in the Navy during World War II and later worked for the U.S. Border Patrol in Sweet Grass where he met his wife Virginia Audrey Hagen. They were married on Sept. 11, 1945.

A successful businessman, Don served on the board of directors for First Citizens Bank in Columbia Falls for nearly 20 years.

He is survived by his wife; niece Delmarie Cleland; of New Mexico; nephew Steven Doerschlag and family, of Eaton, Colo.; nephew Gary Doerschlag and family, of East Wenatchee, Wash.; and several cousins and their families in Montana, Washington, Virginia and Connecticut.

At Don's request, no formal services will be held. Cremation took place under the direction of Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
