Five streets across Whitefish will soon

have new pavement. City council awarded a $164,405 overlay project

to Knife River at their Sept. 19 regular meeting with work slated

to start this fall.

Streets getting new pavement include

West 4th Street, East 5th Street, East 2nd Street between Larch

Avenue and Armory Road, Park Avenue between East 7th and 8th

Streets, and Denver Street between Wisconsin and Colorado

Avenues.

• Whitefish City Council voted

unanimously at their Sept. 19 meeting to approve a conditional use

permit regarding an expansion of Sunlight Montessori. The daycare

on Berg Lane is expanding operations to handle up to 18 children.

The permit was approved with eight conditions, including that the

daycare should use U.S. 93 to access the property.

• Council passed a resolution

maintaining the cash-in-lieu payment in connection with affordable

housing at $11,000 per unit. The resolution allows developers to

have additional density on a parcel of land if they provide

affordable housing or pay the fee-in-lieu-of per extra unit.

• Council passed a resolution

specifying an inflationary rate increase for water and wastewater

services beginning Oct. 1. The inflation increase is set at 2

percent for water and 5 percent for wastewater, which is reduced

from the Consumer Price Index inflation increase of 5.7

percent.

• A $576,033 contract was awarded to

LHC, Inc. for the Scott Avenue lift station and sewer improvement

projects.
