Columbia Falls High School students are reminded that senior photos for the yearbook must be handed in to Mrs. Thramer by Oct. 14. If there is a problem, call 892-6500 ext. 264.

Heather Jurva, of Columbia Falls, has been awarded a $400 Melvin and Myrtle Lord Scholarship from the University of Montana School of Journalism. Jurva, a 2007 graduate of Columbia Falls High School, is a senior majoring in journalism.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Emily Poe, daughter of Billie-Jo Gray, of Columbia Falls, and Gregory Poe, of Richland, Wash., recently completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. During the eight-week program, Poe completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness. Poe is a 2007 graduate of Helena High School.

Kristin Weyrauch, of Columbia Falls, was named to the president's list for the 2011 spring semester at Minot State University, in North Dakota.

Heather Ellsworth, of Columbia Falls, was awarded a fall 2011 Community Pride Scholarship from Whitefish Credit Union. She is a student at Flathead Valley Community College pursuing a career as a radiologic technician.
