Vehicle break-ins

| September 28, 2011 9:10 AM

The Flathead County Sheriff's Office would like to notify the public of a recent increase in thefts from vehicles. Over the past week, there have been many reports of valuables being stolen from both locked and unlocked vehicles during both daylight and night time hours. These thefts have occurred in parking lots, on public property and on private property, even with people standing nearby.

The greatest protection from these thefts is not leaving valuables inside your vehicles. The strongest deterrent is keeping vehicles locked at all times.

We are asking that people not only take these steps to protect their property but that they be extra vigilant in helping us identify the person or person responsible for these crimes. Anyone having information about these crimes is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 758-5585 or Crimestoppers at 752-8477.
