Whitefish’s boys tennis team looked razor sharp Thursday in their sweep of Libby. They carried that momentum through the week to cap off a perfect 4-0 start to the season.

From top to bottom, the team simply took care of business.

“We’re a good team,” coach Chris Schwaderer said. “We’re deep and we have a lot of people committed to getting better.”

The highlight of the week came Saturday when Whitefish knocked off tennis power Hamilton 5-2.

“Last year they took us down with a lopsided score,” Schwaderer said. “We played them really well.”

Against Libby, Matteo Barbuti battled back from a first-set loss in the No. 1 single match against Jason Schnackenberg to win easily in three 1-6, 6-2, 6-0.

Austin Sattler had no problems at No. 2, going 6-0, 6-0 to defeat Dan Leggins.

Logan Blades and Holden Roberts each tallied two set wins as well.

On the doubles side it was more dominance from the Bulldogs.

Veteran netters Camp Kenyon and Connor Ellis cruised in the first set of the No. 1 match with Libby’s Ian Myslicki and Lane Luscher. They then battled for a 7-6 (7-3) win in the second set. Kenyon and Ellis remain undefeated on the season.

Casey Beiser and Sean Janni had no troubles at No. 2 and Nick Jack and Simon Kall worked well as a pair to pick up a win.

Friday, the team rolled past Bigfork with a 6-1 dual victory.

Sattler, Blades and Roberts picked up wins in the No. 2,3 and 4 singles spots, respectively.

Each of the doubles teams took care of their opponents in two sets.

The team followed up with a dominating win at Stevensville, then the 5-2 win at Hamilton.

Whitefish faces Polson this Friday.

“I’m looking forward to getting into the divisional schedule,” Schwaderer said. “Polson will be a huge test.”
