James posting big numbers in college
Amber James is making her mark on the college softball stage. James, a 2009 Columbia Falls High School graduate, turned in some impressive numbers for the Spokane Falls Community College softball program.
In March, she led the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges conference with a .532 batting average. The conference has 27 teams.
At a tournament in Hawaii, she pounded out five hits against 12th-ranked NCAA Division II Hawaii Pacific University.
James, who plays third base for the team, also led the team in home runs with five and had 14 RBIs.
“Not only is AJ one of the best hitters in the 27-team conference, but she is arguably the best third baseman,” coach Janet Skaife said. “She is solid defensively and has the strongest arm I’ve seen on a community college team in my 15 years here.”
James is looking to continue her softball career at a four-year college after graduation.
