Chamber meets

The Columbia Falls Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their general membership meeting at the North Valley Hospital Community Room, 235 Nucleus Avenue, on Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. A talk on North Valley Hospital’s celebration of 10 years of Plane Tree management will be presented. Eagles club

North Valley No. 4081, Kalispell No. 234 Auxiliaries and Kalispell Aerie No. 234 invite members to meet Grand Worthy and Grand Madam presidents on Wednesday, Aug. 29, at 5:30 p.m. for no host cocktail hour and 6:30 p.m. for roast beef potluck dinner and parade of shoes with prizes. Quilt workshop

A free traditional quilt workshop will be held at the Museum at Central School in Kalispell starting Wednesday, Sept. 5, at noon and continuing every other Wednesday at 1 p.m. through Nov. 14. The first meeting will be a potluck and organizational meeting, with fabric and notions organized and new projects discussed. The museum is at 124 Second Avenue East, in Kalispell. Free meals

The Columbia Falls Community Kitchen will offer free meals in the basement of St. Richard’s Catholic Church from Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 29 through Aug. 31, starting at 6 p.m.

Class reunion

The Flathead County High School Class of 1956 will hold a reunion dinner at Buffalo Hills Golf Course on Thursday Sept. 6, with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. (cash bar) and steak or chicken dinner at 6 p.m. Cost is $30 per person RSVP by Aug. 30 to Bobbie at 752-4021 or Connie at 755-8790. Cookbook signing

Author Gail Jokerst will talk about her first cookbook, “The Hungry Bear Kitchen: Recipes and Writings,” at The Montana House, in Apgar Village in Glacier National Park, on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3, with presentations at 2 and 3 p.m. Jokerst moved to the Flathead Valley from Boston 25 years ago and brought with her a lifelong passion for baking and writing. Since 1992, hundreds of her essays and articles have appeared in regional and national newspapers and magazines, such as Big Sky Journal, Montana Magazine, Montana Senior News, and Northwest Travel.
