Lady Dogs have tough night
A
slow second quarter buried the Lady Bulldogs chances at Libby on
Friday night. Whitefish was outscored in the second period 16-1 as
the Lady Loggers cruised to a 48-27 conference victory.
“The whole first half we didn’t show
up,” Whitefish coach Sean Duff said. “We didn’t come ready to
play.”
Ten different players scored for Libby,
led by 11 from Hailey Craig.
Whitefish had chances from the foul
line but finished just 6-28 from the stripe.
“We’re not going to win many games when
we shoot like that,” Duff said.
The loss drops Whitefish to 1-4 in the
league and 1-13 overall, while Libby picked up their first league
win and moves to 1-6 in Northwestern A play. Libby holds the league
advantage for fourth place by outscoring Whitefish.
“We took a step backward,” Duff said.
“Hopefully we can put it all together by the end of the year.”
Simone Craft led the Lady Bulldogs with
11 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Taylor Havens added seven,
all in the first quarter.
“Taylor gets after it all the time,”
Duff said. “She has a huge heart and wants to win.”
Whitefish travels to Plains on Thursday
before hosting Columbia Falls at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The game
against Columbia Falls is also Whitefish’s senior night.
