Cirincione helps set Nevada swim records
Jake Cirincione, 13, of Whitefish, competed last weekend in the Nevada State Short Course Swimming Championships in Carson City, Nev.
As part of a four-man relay team, Cirincione swam the 100-yard butterfly leg of the 400 medley relay and helped set a new Nevada state record for 13-14 year old boys.
As part of the 400-yard free relay, Cirincione swam the third leg and again helped set another Nevada state record for 13-14 year old boys.
The times for both relays were faster than any relay times this year for 13-14 year old boys in California, Texas or Florida.
Cirincione will next compete March through July in the premier swimming events in southern California as a member of the Southern California LSC. His goal is to be named to the elite team representing the U.S. in the Northern American Challenge Cup, an international age group competition held in early August against the Mexican and Canadian national teams. This year’s cup competition will be held on Aug. 2 in Edmonton, Alberta.
Cirincione plans on returning to Whitefish after his year-long training program is complete to attend high school in his hometown. Cirincione loves Montana and set six new individual Montana state swimming records while attending Whitefish Middle School.
