Congressional art

Montana high school students can see their original artwork displayed for a year in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., by entering Montana’s Congressional Art Competition. The House of Representatives holds the competition each spring to recognize outstanding artwork by high school students from each congressional district. The grand prize winner and a guest will also be invited to a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception in Washington in June. All submissions are due by April 27. Symphony scholarships

The Glacier Symphony and Chorale is taking applications for its 2012 scholarship program for young musicians in grades 9-12, including graduating seniors. The program encourages student participation in the Glacier Symphony and Chorale and assists musicians in pursuing a career or an avocation in music. Applications should be mailed to GSC Attn: Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 2491, Kalispell MT 59903 or delivered to the GSC office at 720 South Main Street in Kalispell. Deadline is March 23. FVCC scholarships

Rebecca Hicks, of Columbia Falls, is one of three Flathead Valley Community College students who will receive a Whitefish Credit Union scholarship for the spring 2012 semester. The scholarship totaled $1,400. Hicks is majoring in nursing.

Chorus scholarships

The Five Valley Chorus of Sweet Adelines International will award a music scholarship to any Montana resident pursuing a college degree while being involved in music activities or pursuing a music degree.
