Wildkats slide past Lady Dogs
Playing a more uptempo game, the Lady
Bulldogs kept it close for two quarters at rival Columbia Falls on
Saturday. Their speed wasn’t enough in the end.
The favored Wildkats pulled away in the
second half and handed Whitefish a 66-28 conference loss.
Whitefish was led by six points from
Ashlee Brewer and saw eight players on the final score sheet.
Melissa Poe played a good offensive
game in the post. She put in a nice baseline jumper and a pair of
free throws in the first quarter, and finished with five
points.
Late in the first quarter, senior
Taylor Havens nailed a 12-foot jumper to make the score 12-7.
Senior Amanda Foley followed with a three-pointer to close the
opening period.
Ashley O’Dell put in a jumper from the
corner in front of the Columbia Falls bench to pull Whitefish
within 19 at the half.
Columbia Falls put the game away in the
second half and outscored Whitefish 31-12.
Despite the blowout score, the Lady
Dogs showed tenacity late in the game. Ashley Millard earned a
tough and-1 after putting in a circus shot below the rim.
Whitefish (1-1, 1-8) next plays at
Glacier on Friday and hosts Polson on Saturday at 4 p.m.
