Margaret Malcom

| January 25, 2012 7:36 AM

Margaret Mary Malcom, better known as

Peggy, momma, grammy and little great grammy, was carried gently in

the arms of angels into Gods kingdom on Jan. 19, 2012.

Margaret was 89 years old, born Nov.

16, 1922, in Long Beach, Calif. She was the only child of Clarence

and Ethel Schlarb.

Margaret went to two years of junior

college, but during World War II she quit school to work at Douglas

Aircraft. She proudly worked as a deputy dispatcher for the

Whitefish police department and the Flathead Valley sheriff

department until she retired. Margaret was a master seamstress and

a gourmet chef of everyday cooking. She was known to her friends at

Immanuel Lutheran Home as Miss Las Vegas, because of her love of

bingo.

Margaret married Murray Malcom in 1950,

and had three children, Diane Johnny and Debra.

Margaret is preceded in death by her

parents, Clarence and Ethel; son, Johnny Malcom; and grandson,

Shawn Edward Rice. She is survived by her daughter, Diane and

son-in-law Mike Rice of Whitefish; and daughter, Debra and

son-in-law Jeff Hinrich of Eugene, Ore.

Margaret has five granddaughters,

Christina Troxel of Whitefish, Tonya Plass of Fairbanks, Alaska,

Autumn Malcom and Jennifer Malcom of Kalispell, and Danyel Scott of

Lincoln City. She has three grandsons, Michael Rice of Tillamook,

Ore., Jonathan Rice of Clearwater, Fla., and Jesse Malcom of

Ore.

Margaret’s great-grandchildren are

Alexandria Scott, Tucker Plass, Beck Hurd, Devanie Plass, Madison

Scott, Taylor Warren, Jaxon Plass, Abby Rice, Oceanna Rice, Kayla

Gabris and Tutum Rice.

What an amazing thing for all of us to

have had her in our lives. Margaret will live on in all the

generations of our family. She is loved and missed beyond measure

by us all.

A celebration of life will be held in

the spring for family and friends, at which we will have a picnic

and the traditional planting of a tree of life.
