Elks crush Twins

The Lethbridge Elks piled on 15 hits in Thursday’s AA Legion baseball game against the Glacier Twins, as the Elks crushed the Twins 14-2 at Memorial Field in Whitefish.

Elks pitcher Tanner Layton allowed the Twins only six hits over eight innings of work.

Nathan Carr had a solid day at the plate for the Twins, recording an RBI with two hits, including a double and a run. Shane Marcial also tallied a pair of hits.

The Twins record now stands at 6-25.

Carl Talsma leads the team in batting with a .320 average and 13 RBIs this season. Cory Davis and Jeremy Nielsen are each hitting .301. Nielsen has 14 RBIs, while Davis has 11.

Connor Donahue has been steady on the mound with an ERA of 4.86 over 57.2 innings pitched. He’s recorded 57 strike outs.

The Twins host the Class AA Legion baseball state tournament Aug. 1-4 at Memorial Field. The Twins will open the tourney Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. The championship game is set for Aug. 4 at 7 p.m.
