Resort Tax collections spike in May
Resort Tax collections for May were up 40 percent over last year. More than $147,000 was collected, or $42,400 more than in 2011.
Whitefish city manager Chuck Stearns reports that a long outstanding payment and disputed delinquency amped up the final total.
“Using the civil citations process has enabled us to reduce aggregate delinquency levels,” Stearns said, “although the aforementioned case almost went to trial.”
Year-to-date through May collections are up nearly 10 percent over last year. $1.6 million has been collected.
June, July and August typcially represent the months when most Resort Tax dollars are collected.
