Gene Wiley

Gene Wiley, 87, formerly of Martin City, passed away May 25, 2012, at his home in Merrill, Wis.

He was born in Tomahawk, Wis., on Dec. 17, 1924. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy in World War II. 

After college, Gene entered the teaching profession and worked in the South Beloit, Ill., school system for 18 years.

In 1972, the family moved to Montana where Gene worked as a carpenter and owned and operated the Tamarack Lodge in Martin City. After the death of his wife, EvLynn, he moved to Merrill, where he met and married Sally Weix. He continued working as a carpenter well into his 80s.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, EvLynn (Wu) Wiley and his seven siblings.

Gene is survived by his wife Sally; sons Tom Wiley, of Columbia Falls, and Tim Wiley and wife Kari, of Kalispell; grandchildren Kayla and Vince Taylor, of Columbia Falls, and Sam Wiley and Seth Wiley, of Whitefish; as well as his stepchildren and great grandchildren. 

Memorial services were held in Merrill, Wis., on May 30, 2012.
