The North Valley Food Bank Needs your help!

I have been volunteering at the North Valley Food Bank for about 10 years and have had the honor of working with many dedicated volunteers through these years.

Our local food bank is operated completely by volunteers and has been since it’s birth more than 30 years ago starting in June Munski-Feenan’s home. It has grown over time and in the past 10 years I have seen a lot of changes! Currently the food bank has started a campaign to raise funds to build a new building and hopes are to continue this tradition of selfless giving in our community.

While I would like to urge you to be generous to this building fund, I would also like to urge those out there that would like to give time to this excellent organization to come down and see where you can help.

Recently we lost a person who was a fixture at the food bank for the past 10 years and frankly, we are going to have a difficult time replacing his hard work, knowledge, organization and dedication. There is a gaping hole at the food bank where Gary Gephart used to be.

This week, we walked around in a daze wondering what we needed to do next because Gary was not there with his finger on the pulse of the organization. While we will all step up and fill in where we can, we need more people to make this worthwhile organization part of their volunteer lives.

The great thing about the food bank is that you can do as little or as much as you want and you can do it with a group of great folks and people who care about our community. Come down and see what we are all about and find out where you can lend a hand.
