Cal Scott was appointed interim commissioner to fill the vacant seat of beloved Flathead County commissioner Jim Dupont. Scott did a disservice to the Republican nominating committee and the commissioners when he applied for appointment as interim commissioner. He left facts out.

Scott needs to verify the educational degree he claims to have earned.

He didn’t mention filing personal bankruptcy, having 22 credit cards with more than $173,000 in debt, leaving creditors with $237,000 in unpaid bills. At the time, his monthly income was $1,483 with monthly payments of $4,768. He filed for bankruptcy in 2009. It was final in 2011.

This person, who couldn’t control his personal finances, is making decisions on managing the county budget.

Gil Jordan has been the executive director at the Museum At Central School for eight years. The number of museum members has doubled, and the museum has recovered from a substantial debt.

Jordan is involved. He is or has been firefighter and secretary-treasurer for Coram-West Glacier Volunteer Fire Department, social worker at the Western Mental Health Center, debate coach at Whitefish High School, president and member of Flathead County Library Foundation Board and an arts and culture representative for the Flathead Convention and Visitors Bureau Board.

Jordan has a B.S. degree from Cal Poly-Pomona and Master of Arts from UCLA. He has one credit card and zero personal or business debt.

The facts prove Gil Jordan is the best candidate to serve as the District 1 County Commissioner.
