Wilford Welch

Wilford J. Welch, 87, of Kalispell, passed away Sept. 27, 2012, at the home of his daughter.

He was born Feb. 9, 1925, in Billings, the son of Aaron and Ruth (Armstrong) Welch.

Wilford joined the Army and served overseas during World War II. Upon his return in 1946, he married Roxy Larson in Shelby, and settled back in Oilmont. He worked his whole life in the oilfields of northern Montana until retiring to Columbia Falls in 1991.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank and Sonny; sister, Charlotte; and his wife, Roxy.

He is survived by daughters Linda Hammer and partner Larry Spratt, of Spokane, and Dixie Lawrence and husband Howie Hammer, of Kalispell; son Frank Welch and wife Sheri, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and special little dog Angel.

Graveside services took place Oct. 2, 2012, at Woodlawn Cemetery, in Columbia Falls, with military honors provided by the United Veterans of Flathead.

The family suggests memorials be sent to VFW Post 2252.
