Gardening talk at library
The Columbia Falls Library Association will host a free fall garden and yard workshop by Pat McGlynn, a master gardener from the Flathead County Extension Office in the Columbia Falls City Council Chambers on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 6 p.m. The program will be open forum, so bring questions and pictures about winterizing, pruning and mulching.
Commissioner forums
Republican Flathead County commissioner candidates Cal Scott and Gary Krueger will face their counterpart Democratic candidates Gil Jordan and Clara Mears-LaChappelle in a free forum at Flathead Valley Community College's Arts and Technology Building on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. Both races are determined by a countywide vote.
Taste talk
The Columbia Falls Women’s Connection, affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries, will hold their luncheon at the Teakettle Community Hall, on Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls, on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 11:30 a.m. Susanne Faubert from Taste This! Flathead will talk about her business. The speaker will be Judy Johnson. Cost $8 per person. Free child care is available by reservation. Need fall volunteers
The United Way Volunteer Center is organizing the ninth annual Rake Up The Flathead for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2-3, to assist senior citizens and disabled people with yard work and fall projects. Volunteers can sign up for half or a full day by calling 752-7266. People needing assistance can call the same number.
Library meeting
The Flathead County Library System Board of Trustees will hold their regular meeting in the Columbia Falls City Hall council chambers on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 9 a.m. For more information, call the library director, Kim Crowley, at 758-5826.

North Valley Baptist Church 1750 Talbott Road, in Columbia Falls, will hold a “Trunk or Treat” event in their parking lot on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Chamber after-hours
The Columbia Falls Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its after-hours social at the Stonefly Lounge in Coram on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The “pre-holiday party” will feature live blues and soul-ternative music by Erin & The Project, hors d’oeuvres by The Simple Chef, fall cocktails from Glacier Distilling Co. and holiday door prizes.
Church bazaar
St. Richard’s Catholic Church, in Columbia Falls, will hold its annual bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be served, with homemade soup, sandwiches and pie, along with large selections of craft items, homemade baked goods and religious articles. Countertenor sings
Terry Barber, countertenor and alumnus of the Grammy Award winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer, will perform classical and popular favorites in the Flathead High School auditorium, in Kalispell, on Oct. 23, at 7:30 p.m. His solo work includes appearances at the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Spoleto Festival and Moscow’s Svetlanov Hall. The program is presented by the Flathead Valley Concerts Association. Membership in FVCA include admission to four scheduled concerts at $60 adults, $50 seniors over 62, $30 students and $140 families.
