All state band

Four students at Columbia Falls High School recently qualified to attend the 2012 Montana All-State Band, Chorus and Orchestra Festival at the Great Falls Civic Center on Oct. 17-19 — band, Thanawan Intaratanod, senior, oboe, and Ada Brooks, sophomore, euphonium; choir, Meredith Stolte, sophomore, soprano 2, and Matt Erhart, senior, bass 2.

College planning

Columbia Falls High School counselors will present their annual “College Planning Night” for all senior and junior high students and parents on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school’s Little Theatre. A resource packet of important information regarding the college selection and application processes and a number of important college financial aid issues will be available to those in attendance. Free GED prep

Flathead Valley Community College will provide a free adult basic education and GED preparatory class at Canyon Elementary School, in Hungry Horse, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 5 p.m. starting Tuesday, Oct. 16. Army boot camp

Pvt. Leonard Nichol, of Hungry Horse, recently completed Army basic combat training at Fort Sill, in Lawton, Okla. He is a 2010 Columbia Falls High School graduate.

Air Force boot camp

Air Force Airman Jordan Stoltz recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Stoltz is the son of Lillian Rinaldi. of Saugerties, N.Y., and Rodney Stoltz, of Ninth Street West, Columbia Falls. He is a 2011 graduate of Saugerties High School.
