The Columbia Falls High School golf teams competed at the Libby Invitational at the par 72 Cabinet View Golf Course on Sept. 14.

Senior Wildkat McKenna Emmerich shot 100 to finish in 10th place individually, while the Kats’ team score of 480 landed them in fifth place in the seven team field.

Wildkat seniors Morgan Love and Maggie Panasuk shot 120 and 130 respectively, while juniors Baylee Brinton and Britney Cotton shot 128 and 134. Polson took top team honors at 373, and Whitefish junior Erin Tabish took medalist honors at 84.

On the boys side of the tournament, Wildcat freshman Gabe Love paced the team with a 93, followed by sophomore Henry Chisholm (96) freshman Grant Wallace (117) and junior Joey Tamburelli (119). Jared LaRoque posted a 136. The young Cats finished in seventh, while Whitefish took team honors.

“We’re back on this course on Thursday for the divisional tournament, so I know my kids were studying the course as they played,” coach Gene Marcille said. “The Libby course is challenging, particularly the putting on the new greens. We’ll have to play our best golf of the year to meet our goals of qualifying for state.”
