Softball crushes Browning at plate
Whitefish’s softball team put a notch in the win column last week with a 23-2 beat down at home against Browning. Senior Andrea Lamaroux threw a 1-hitter in a stellar outing from the pitching circle.
“Everybody was hitting the ball,” Whitefish coach Carrie Lamb said. “It was good to see and good to get the win. It gave our girls some confidence.”
Shannon Craft went 3-for-3 at the plate and tallied five RBI to lead all hitters. Malia Morris went 3-for-4 with four RBI to help Whitefish racked up 18 hits total. Morris is hitting .500 this season.
“Malia continues to be big on the stick and in the field,” Lamb said. “She’s a great leader and the other girls are starting to follow her lead.”
Lamb noted Lamaroux’s work in the off-season is starting to pay off.
“Andrea is pitching really well this year,” Lamb said. “She threw a lot in winter and that’s really showing. She’s in a good spot to lead the team, and she has fun there.”
Whitefish had a tough run over the weekend, losing 32-0 at Polson and 27-0 at Frenchtown.
“We’ve got to hold our heads up,” Lamb said. “Those are two of the toughest teams in the state.”
Whitefish travels to Stevensville on Thursday.
