Jean M. Michaud
Jean M. Michaud, 71, a resident of Battle Lake, Minn., went to be with the Lord on Aug. 9, 2013, surrounded by her family.
She was born April 5, 1942, in Chippewa Falls, Wisc., daughter of F. P. (Swede) and Dorothy (Rooney) Peloquin. She grew up in Chippewa Falls, attending school and graduating from McDonell High School in 1960.
She was a graduate of Globe Business School and worked for Farm Oyl Company for 16 years. In 1977, Jean married William Michaud in Chippewa Falls. They lived in Drummond, Wisc., for four years. Jean worked as a secretary at Chippewa Woodworking Mill and Bill owned the Black Bear Supper Club and Motel with his brother, where Jean also worked.
After selling the business, Bill and Jean headed west to Montana and spent the next 25 years, 17 in Kalispell and eight in Whitefish.
Jean was employed at Big Mountain Ski Resort for 25 years. She started out on switchboard, but it didn’t take her long to show her value to the resort. She was in charge of the ticket office, season pass and information center and was one of the few full-time employees, employed all year long.
She was well respected in her rolls of running the Big Mountain Resort and was elected to the Board of Directors of the Flathead Festival. She touched many people’s lives in the many years in Montana.
Upon retirement in 2006, Bill asked her where she wanted to live and with no hesitation, she said she wanted to live in Minnesota where her two sisters resided. So, they came back to Minnesota and have resided in Battle Lake ever since.
She was a very loving and respected person by her husband, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and anybody who knew her. Jean was a very affectionate person, with a deep love for her nieces and nephews and the great- nieces and nephews who followed.
Jean will be remembered for her caring spirit, selflessness, honesty and positive attitude, which was evident to anyone who knew her. Jean was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, who enjoyed golfing and spending time with family.
Preceding her in death were her father, F. P. “Swede” and mother, Dorothy (Rooney) Peloquin. Jean is survived by husband, William; brothers, Peter (Janice) Peloquin, Charles (Carolyn) Peloquin; sisters, Kay (Keith) Klett, Sue (Bruce) Lothson; also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, who were the light of her life.
