The owners of Big Sky Resort and the Yellowstone Club are planning to buy Moonlight Basin with the aim of combining operations to create a giant resort of more than 5,700 skiable acres.

Boston-based investment firm CrossHarbor Capital Partners LLC owns the ultra-exclusive Yellowstone Club, while Boyne Resorts owns Big Sky Resort in southwestern Montana.

They announced Wednesday an agreement to acquire the Moonlight Basin resort on the other side of Lone Mountain from a Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. subsidiary.

Terms were not disclosed. The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1cEcJkG ) the deal should close in the next several weeks.

CrossHarbor and Boyne recently purchased the nearby Spanish Peaks resort community for $26.1 million.

They say the combined Big Sky-Moonlight Basin operations will include 23 chairlifts and 10 surface lifts.
