Defend Rural America explores community values

| December 11, 2013 11:31 AM

A public meeting on “How to Reclaim Montana’s Lands” will be Dec. 16, 6:30 p.m. at the Best Western Flathead Lake Inn, at the intersection of Highways 93 and 82.

Kirk MacKenzie, founder of Defend Rural America and a panel of experts will present approaches to regaining management and productive use of Montana lands and natural resources.  The big picture perspective will expose impacts by national as well as global trends, changing policies and restrictive rulings.

Limited access to our public lands will be identified as the major factor in the decline of the timber industry and restrictions in recreation and tourism.  Improper forest management will be discussed which has led to environmental damage of forest fires, air and watershed pollution, with loss of endangered species, and threats to human and wildlife health and safety. Devastation of out-of-control wolf populations and their spread of disease will also be addressed.

Environmentally friendly practices will be identified and procedures outlined to restore production, revive job-producing industry and stimulate the economy.  Constitutionally correct jurisdiction and implementation of local management practices, including defense against ESA over-reach will be covered in detail. Speakers will introduce corrective measures that can be taken immediately at local levels applying Constitutional provision of jurisdiction, localized management and ESA defense.

The meeting is free of charge and open to the public. For information:  837-6929 or 650-967-5679
