Flathead County Democrats
The Flathead County Democratic Women will have a lunch meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn on Monday, Jan. 28 at 11:30 a.m. RSVP by emailing raeellen@cyberport.net.

The Flathead Democratic Party and Central Committee’s montly meeting will be held Feb. 19, location yet to be determined.
Stitch Out
A “stitch out” for Hugs for Hope scarves will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8559 Montana 35, Bigfork, on Feb. 1 and March 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call Ginny Johnson at 837-3657.
Pachyderm Club
The Glacier Pachyderm Club will meet at their new location, the Hilton Garden Inn on the south end of Kalispell, on Jan. 25 and Feb. 1 from noon to 1 p.m.
Kalispell Mayor Tami Fisher will speak about the current issues facing the city and things that have caught her attention from the legislative session in Helena and Washington D.C. during the Jan. 25 meeting. A question and answer forum will follow.
The Feb. 1 meeting will have a discussion of GOP issues and club business.

Flathead Grizzly Scholarship Association
The Flathead Chapter of the Grizzly Scholarship Association will introduce newly signed athletes at the 2013 Grizzly Football Social on National Letter of Intent Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 6. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. at Flathead Valley Community College’s Arts and Technology Building lower level.
UM Athletic Director Kent Haslam, UM Head Football Coach Mick Delaney and assistant coaches will present. Tickets are $10 at the door. For more information, contact Susan Munsinger at 212-8298.
Glacier National Park Associates Winter Speaker Series
The Glacier National Park Associates will host three speakers for their Winter Speaker Series. On Jan. 28 Glacier National Park Ranger Gary Moses will discuss search and rescue in GNP. On Feb. 26, Stan Bones, U.S. Forest Service avalanche specialist, will show the avalanche film “A Dozen More Turns.” Then on March 25, Kate Kendell, GNP researcher, will provide updates on finding grizzlies in the Crown of the Continent ecosystem.
Each presentation will be at the Central School Museum in Kalispell and start at 7 p.m. Admission is free and the public is welcome. For more information, call 756-8992.
Word and Excel
A free class on the basics of word processing and spreadsheets using Microsoft Word and Excel will be held at the Bigfork Branch Library on Feb. 7 from 10-11 a.m.

Gardening Preparation and Strategies
The Swan Ecosystem Center will host their second annual gardening program at the USFS Condon Work Center on Jan. 24 from 7-8:30 p.m. Long time local gardeners, Cookie Beers, Jan LaPlant, Leanna Grubaugh and Roberta Stroden are among the local gardeners invited to share their tips and strategies for raising produce in the Swan. Their favorite references and websites will be part of discussion.
The program is geared for beginners and novice gardeners to benefit from expertise specific to the long winter/short summer growing season in the Swan and surrounding areas.
There is no fee for the meeting, but donations will assist SEC’s education program.

Landscape Raffle for BHS senior class
Bigfork High School’s senior class is raffling off a $5,000 extreme landscape makeover. Cost is $20 per ticket or six tickets for $100 and only 750 tickets will be sold. Tickets can be purchased from any BHS senior. The raffle drawing will be held April 16, and landscape work will be done May 18.

Sliter Park Memorial Project
The Community Foundation for a Better Bigfork is taking orders for bricks for the Sliter Park Memorial Project.
The 4-by-8-inch bricks allow for two lines of text consisting of 16 characters, including spaces and periods.
Bricks are $50 each, but additional bricks are $40 each after ordering two or more. For more information call Jerry Murphy at 837-2459.
