Hunter classes scheduled across the valley

Free hunter education classes have been scheduled for Bigfork, Libby, Whitefish and Eureka.

State law requires aspiring hunters born after Jan. 1, 1985 complete the hunter education course before buying a hunting license in Montana. Students must also be at least 11 years old to become certified.

Registration for the classes can be done online at fwp.mt.gov by clicking on “education.”

Bigfork’s first night of class is Wednesday, March 27 at 7:05 p.m. at the Bigfork High School music room. The remainder of the class will be held from 6-9 p.m. on April 1-5 and 8. The field course is scheduled for Saturday, March 9.

Whitefish classes will be held at the Whitefish Central School from 7-9 p.m. on March 4, 5, 7 and 8. The field course is held on Saturday, March 9. Call Ronny Nail at 862-4509 for more information.

Libby classes meet from 6:30-9 p.m. on Feb. 6, 11-13 and 15 at the Libby Elementary School, 150 Education Way. The field course will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16. Lead instructor is Challis Crismore. Contact Bill Swagger for more information at 293-5256.

Eureka’s first night of class is March 4, 7-9 p.m. at the Eureka Middle School Library. Classes continue from 7-9 p.m. on March 11, 12, 14, 18, 19 and 21; field day is Saturday, March 16. Call Ron Hvizdak at 889-3791 for more information.
