Local runners place at Whitefish Lake Run

A total of 482 runners turned out for the 5K and 10K Whitefish Lake Run in hot weather June 29. Some runners came from as far away as Anchorage, Alaska, Houston, Texas, and West Yorkshire, England.

The top-four women in the 10K race took first place for their age groups. Jessica Rumsey, of Columbia Falls, who took first last year in the women’s 10K race, came in second at 42:14.9. Samantha Mundel, of Coram, a junior at Columbia Falls High School, came in fourth at 43:11.57.

In the 5K race, Jinise Osborne, of Columbia Falls, a sophomore runner for Montana State University-Billings, came in third for the women at 20:14.14. Justin Whitman, of Columbia Falls, came in fourth for the men at 18:37.53.
