The body of a missing 25-year-old Kalispell man was found July 12 below The Loop of the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park.

Cody Lee Johnson was reported missing by family and friends after he failed to show up for work at Nomad Global Communications. He was last seen July 7 heading toward Hungry Horse and West Glacier in a black car with unidentified people.

Results from an autopsy aren't expected for a few days, according to Flathead County undersheriff Dave Leib. Johnson's death is being investigated as suspicious until details reveal otherwise, Leib said.

Johnson's body was found at about 9:45 a.m. in a steep and rocky area below The Loop switchback. A helicopter and specialized short-haul rescue team from Parks Canada assisted with the recovery of the body.

The Going-to-the-Sun Road was closed temporarily during recovery efforts.

Kalispell City Police Department, Flathead County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted with the search and recovery operations.

The body was transported to a local funeral home and an autopsy will be conducted.

An investigation into Johnson’s death is underway.
