Robert McBride

Robert Lee “Bob” McBride Sr., 67, passed away in Columbia Falls on July 4, 2013.

He was born March 9, 1946, to Samual and LaVerne McBride in Worland, Wyo.

Bob went to Columbia Falls High School. At 16, he began working for the Forest Service at Red Plum lookout tower in the Bob Marshall Wilderness and built trails, also at Chalens Cabins.

He married Kathleen N. Thomasser on Sept. 19, 1966, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Bob farmed in eastern Montana, cut fence posts and firewood, and bumped knots in the Flathead Valley. He also worked for the Forest Service hand tree-thinning for many years, and he cut Christmas trees.

Bob is survived by his wife Kathleen; children Bobby Jr., Frank Fredrick and wife Lori, Samuel Duane, Lucille Ruth, Natalie Teresa, Amber Jean and Rebecca Lynn; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brothers James McBride and wife Eileen, and Donald McBride and wife Donna; sisters Sandy, JoAnne, and Sharon and husband Ron; his faithful dog Josie.
